Heroic Payroll Fails - # 4 – Storming City Offices

Teacher protesting over poor salaries is not unheard of. However, rarely do these protests lead to the storm of city offices… unless poor pay is due to a payroll fail.

Last January, in Mbale, capital city of Uganda, government school teachers protested over the nonpayment of their December 2023 salaries. The protest moved to the council offices, where teachers chanted slogans and demanded their overdue pay, expressing their inability to support their families due to irregular loan deductions, non-remittance of deductions, and salary arrears dating back to 2021.
